Distribution. What is Distribution? It's easy as 1,2,3 & I have it

But 1st let's clarify Distribution so that we don't have any misunderstandings. In the old days it was a place where people took their goods (I'm GENERALIZING-whatever) and wanted them Distributed to loads of other destinations as they could not do it themselves. Ok so far?
So, in the old days of Music Distribution the Record labels would do their own distribution until they found out it was rather costly. So, Distributors sprung up & took the load of the labels & they distributed to the shops. (I'm keeping it simple to get to the big bang quickly). As politics of sales came into question (who sold the most) the distributors then started to cut down on what they distributed as not all records sold. Thus the system became difficult as the Labels wanted to shift numbers out to the distributors as that counted as a sale & that was what made an Artist be eligible for a Silver, Gold or Platinum.
Now, enter the era of the Internet & Distribution now, today, is just a 'Click' away. By uploading a track to a Platform, your URL or a Cloud, you have in essence made available your cd/product available for anyone to download it, whether it be paid or Free - Your choice. The 1st to do this big time was Napster & they called it file-sharing (P2P = Peer-to-Peer) & I got one of those! P2P's became big business & they too sprung up like mushrooms & Joe Public went file sharing crazy. Not all, most just downloaded for FREE. These P2Ps were making millions whilst labels & Film Companies were losing.
The Film & Label companies refused to work with this method & over the years the US hunted & shut them down.
So, my friends, the best Music Distribution system that you can have is a 'controlled' P2P system & you will make money from the subscriptions & from Downloads & from Advertising.
Indies & Unsigned - What more do you want to know? You want to have your own system & beat the Majors at their own game or continue to moan you're not getting a fair deal?
Give me your best shot - Disagree with me, please.
